You gotta love innovative advertising. According to this AdFreak.com article, a new campaign by a Texas-based shop has our favorite childhood toys in the throes of morbid obesity.

With the tagline "Keep obesity away from your child," the ad shows fat toys, such as Big-Butt Barbie and masked superhero the Cake Crusader. The campaign is the brainchild of Hispanic shop LatinWorks for an organization called Active Life Movement.

I get what this campaign is trying to do, especially with childhood obesity becoming ever more a concern in our country. But I'm not sure if it's sending the right message. Personally, I think perhaps Barbie should find a middle ground. You know, somewhere in between anorexia and morbid obesity.

Poor kids. With all the mixed messages we (meaning the media and society) send them today about food and weight, no wonder they have absolutely no idea how to be healthy.
