True story, folks. You can't make this up.

According to Reuters, a tourist attraction in Britain is looking for a "witch" and they are willing to shell out quite a nice salary should you fit the bill.

"Somerset tourist attraction Wookey Hole caves is advertising for a 'witch' and has already received 100 applicants since the beginning of the week," according to the article.

As it turns out, legend has it that back in the day the area was home to the Wookey Witch. Now that the previous "witch" has retired, they are looking for a replacement.

So what does the job entail? Well, you get to live in a spacious cave, cackle at will, perform a little magic and obviously, not be allergic to cats.

The open audition is scheduled for July 28, so hop on your broom and head over to Britain. But please, no warty, green-skinned witches apply. It's a family-friendly destination and you don't want to frighten the children (however, men and transgenders are welcome...it's a modern witch's world these days).

  • SALAZZA: Right on, otherwise they'd have kids. The firm name sounds like kids wouldn't be admitted there. It sounds a bit like the CHEYENNE SOCIAL CLUB. Remember that one?

  • Great eye and interest catching title. Who could resist reading the story with a title like that?
Makes one come up with numerous questions. Don't we all wonder what the first evaluation is like? How will the witch be evaluated? How secure is the position? Are there any benefits with the position?
    Is there an dress code?

I really enjoy your blogs, hope you stay around a very long time.

  • According to their website it is a part-time job too! I don't think you have to live in the cave full-time. It sounds like an interesting place-especially for kids. www.wookey.co.uk

  • I read about this and thought, "what a great job!" But then I thought about people pointing and laughing, or children running away in fright, or having to touch toads and snakes and figured this was not for me.
