Kittens getting gently boinked on the head. Funny, right?
Well, not everyone thinks so. A video on YouTube called "Whack-a-Kitty" has some people up in arms, calling it animal cruelty (thanks for the link, Terry). Basically, it's a video of kittens in a Whack-a-Mole type box and every time they pop their heads out, someone gently pushes their heads down back through the hole using a soft mallett.
You can watch the video yourself below (that is, if I linked it right...fingers crossed!).
Frankly, I think people are overreacting (I know! Imagine that! People overreacting to something that was silly in the first place! Who'da thunk it?!).
I think it's much more cruel when people dress up those yappy little dogs in couture doggy clothes. Now those are the people we should be going after with pitchforks and torches.

I've had several dogs that get all upset if you take their collars off for any reason. It's like, "Hey, that's MY necklace!"
The video is really cute. At least he lets the kitties get out instead of shoving them all the way back in.

Truth be told, I too like little dogs. Actually, pretty much all dogs. I just feel bad for the dogs that are dressed up by their owners and you can tell they hate it. They get those sad, puppy dog eyes that scream "HELP ME!" It's my personal belief that Paris Hilton's dog, Tinkerbell, committed suicide cause he couldn't take those stupid little Gucci outfits she was always stuffing him into.
But you are right. Some dogs love it. One of my dogs will prance around and show off every time we put a bandana around his neck.
June 3, 2009 at 9:56 a.m.My wife was asleep until this thing came on full blast right at midnight. Someone was banging on this computer and trying to will it off by the force of the blue smoke coming out his mouth, nose and ears. Mama, from the look on her face as she bolted from the bedroom, was NOT thrilled. From what saw of the clip why would ANYONE say a word?
June 3, 2009 at 12:15 a.m.Hah! Practically any animal video, cute, funny, or otherwise, on YouTube will have at least one comment saying it's "cruel," which in turn will spark a debate on the video page. It's a shame that the comments will often take away from the video. I thought the Whack-A-Kitty vid was a cute, funny, and nice light-hearted change when I saw it last week and I haven't changed my mind at all despite comments.
And, hey! I like the yappy little dogs (Chihuahuas = <3 ), but couture dog clothes are unnecessary, I agree. Typically, I put clothes on any of the dogs in my life only if they are cold. My family had one chihuahua that actually liked to dress up, though, even if it was just a simple sweater or a pretty (and inexpensive) shiny collar.
