I was just a wee toddler when my mom, a die-hard Trekkie, introduced me to the show. And there's been no looking back since. She even made me a T-shirt in kindergarten that said "Junior Trekkie."
And I know I'm not alone.
In honor of the new "Star Trek" movie coming out this weekend, I'm looking for any die-hard Trekkies out there to interview. Any takers? I want to know your thoughts on the prequel, the series and just what it is about boldly going where no one has gone before that we just can't get enough of.
Feel free to call me at 361-580-6514 or email me at abrandon@vicad.com with your thoughts.

I am interested in seeing how they deal with the technology aspect of the whole movie. By that I mean the technology for making the movie has improved immensely since the TV series was on, but the technology at the disposal of the characters should only be equal to or less than that of the TV series. All the movies that have been made up till now were after the TV series so they could show advancements in the tech. if they have Klingons in this movie they should look like the ones from the Star Trek series and not the Star Trek The Next Generation series. The new movie will be a hit the story line seems good; the special effects look great so if they keep true to the continuity of it all it should be one heck of a movie. Engage! STTNG
May 7, 2009 at 1:10 p.m.Star Trek, was the kind of world I would have preferred to live in growing up when things were not so good.
Basically the whole story implied that “mankind’s survival” is everyone’s responsibility, and our near destruction was and an example of our failure as a race to live up to it.
“Human beings are not alone in suffering the consequences of their actions and nor should they be alone in their self-advancement” – John
“In the course of technological advancement our individual survival and advancement becomes invariably linked greater to our common survival and advancement” – John
“Responsibility does not invariably come with the capacity to affect others survivability or advancement, but it should be the cause of those responsible to have the greatest capacity” – John
“Leaders are not born but made through realization of the need for responsible, knowledgeable, and capable guidance in any particular matter; and a commitment to act competently and sincerely upon that understanding” – John
These are the lessons I personally have gained through my interpretation of the Star Trek story, and it is my hope that this lives on in a new generation.
Not all good works have to be written, the Vikings transferred lessons and knowledge through story telling rather than script. For those fellow bookworms, my meaning is in general.
If anyone from the franchise is reading thanks, sometimes you just need to believe that people given the opportunity would do the right thing, especially when surrounded by so much wrong.

I am an old time Trekkie although I must admit since I haven't owned or watched TV on a regular basis since 1996 I've lost touch with the franchise--though I have all the movies.
I thought I would not be interested in a prequel, but the more I see about the more interested I am.
