Fox's TV show "Glee" is taking the world by storm. It already has a loyal fan base that call themselves "Gleeks" (8 million viewers a week) and yes, I am guilty as charged. I frackin' love the show.
But more so than just climbing television ratings, the show is having another effect. It's single-handedly breathing new life into songs from the 70's, 80's and 90's that we haven't heard since neon socks went out of style (oh, shut up, you know you wore them too).
In fact, sales of the Glee cast versions of songs such as Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" and "Somebody to Love" are going gold.
(Added bonus: The show also does today's hits as well)
People are already speculating that the show is not only changing the music industry, but also garnering new interest in high school glee clubs.
While my singing ability is nothing to brag about, (as anyone who has seen "Chupacabra the Musical" can attest to) I'm glad to see that a TV show is generating interest in the arts. So many schools today are cutting back on such programs but hopefully every kid will have the opportunity to let their inner Gleek out someday.

The end of October I read a review in Rolling Stone that labeled Glee, "The Gayest Show Ever" and I have to concur...count it a guilty pleasure...and like Summer Glau, Butters, anything by the Coen brothers and a young Meredith Baxter-Birney I am some how compelled to watch.
One observation I haven't seen is that the show has to be the revival of the hot Jewish chick as icon.
