First off, let me begin by saying that if the following blog offends you, blame my co-worker Julian Cavazos. He brought this to my attention, knowing fully well I am unable to resist anything associated with the word "ta-tas."
In an effort to bring awareness to breast cancer, some women are taking a new approach and using their breasts to their full...(ahem)...potential, according to the AP.
For instance, in one PSA for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (which is this month, FYI): "A woman in a skimpy white bikini sashays next to a swimming pool. Onlookers gawk, men's tongues roll and music blares in the background. The camera zooms in slow motion to her jiggling chest as a message spreads across the screen: "You know you like them/ Now it's time to save the boobs."
Another approach is one taken by Julia Fikse. She started a T-shirt business named "Save the Ta-Tas" (told you I couldn't resist that word). According to the article, "Her Southern California company now has 12 full-time employees producing T-shirts that proclaim "caught you lookin' at my ta-tas" and "I love my big ta-tas." Five percent of every sale goes to breast cancer research and awareness."
Now, of course, there has been some backlash to this in-your-face, sexual imagery, with most critics saying it compromises the serious work other breast cancer organizations are trying to do by offending people.
But according to Aliya-Jasmine Sovani, who starred in the aforementioned "boob" commercial, at least it gets people talking.

Oh crap! Guy's, do you think they know we are staring at their boobs?
I'm all for awareness, I would rather football players not be wearing pink.
October 9, 2009 at 5:10 a.m.Some great writing, I was smiling throughout. I see nothing wrong in having some fun in raising money for breast cancer research. This is a very cruel disease to not only the women that get the disease, but to those that love them.
October 8, 2009 at 10:10 p.m.I like the in your face advertisements. The baby drinking from a longneck and teens at a drinking party is a good one too. You wouldn't then, why now? or something to that effect. Ad against parents offering alcohol to under age teens.
October 7, 2009 at 5:58 p.m.there's also the website boobiethon.com, I think. Kevin Smith was talking a lot about it on his Twitter page a couple of days ago. It is also a breast cancer site.
