Considering how polarized our society is today, I'm going to break this latest news in two ways:

For the eyes of only those 13 and younger: Poor Miley Cyrus has been, like, totally unfairly voted as the worst celebrity influence of 2009 in a new poll.

For the eyes of everyone above the age of 13: That annoying big-toothed daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus finally got what's coming to her. Ha!

Yes, according to AOL's JSYK.com (Just So You Know) poll, Miley "has been voted the worst celebrity influence of 2009 by the very people who made her a star, tweens and teens, according to an online poll on Wednesday."

Ah, how fickle them young'uns can be. Miley even beat out perpetual mess-ups Britney Spears and Kanye West.

Now while Miley has had her fair share of scandal the past couple of years (gawd, remember the firestorm with that Annie Leibovitz photo?) I'm going to have to question the wisdom of the younger generations on this one. As annoying as I find Ms. Hannah Montana and her weird teeth, is she really that bad of an influence? Let's say, as opposed to Lindsay "I party so hard I look 40" Lohan or Paris "dogs and pink and money are so cute" Hilton?

Then again, I'm not a tween or teen, so what do I know (other than the fact that zits won't magically disappear once you're out of your teens)?

  • Weird teeth? Do I detect a bit of jealousy or something here? Weird teeth.....from a "journalist"? I recall Mr. Cobler once calling down a blogger for remarking about the physical characteristics of a county official. I have been subjected to Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus by default for some time now having a teen and a tween of my own. Cute kid, best I can tell. Is she a Taylor Swift or a Selena Gomez cover girl out of the box, natural beauty? Maybe not, but she's just a kid, and pretty much at the mercy of the media, be they national writers, or hick town newspaper reporters. Maybe you should send her your best photo, and ask her for some sixteen year old commentary on your appearance and features. I have a feeling she'd be a bit kinder than you are to her, her annoyance to you aside.

  • Um, I'd have to say the pole dancing and several negative images have contributed to this. Plus, it doesn't help that she said she looks up to Britney Spears.

  • Did her quitting and negativity of Twitter a factor in the voting I wonder? :)

  • It all depends how the questions are asked and how the slimey arsed media idiots want to paint'er. I'd really love to choke the living Pelosi out of makers of poll questions. i.e., "Would you prefer to be chopped up with a meat cleaver or with a rusty, jagged edged axe?" They give you no sane way to answer their slanted questions.

  • What on earth has this child done to deserve this infamy? The worst I can think of is that Annie Leiebovitz photo shoot, and I've seen far more skin on album covers by performers not much older than Miley. No one is telling Beyonce to put on some clothes.

It's all petty jealousy. I'm familiar with the kids who hate the popular cheerleaders, so I shouldn't be surprised about this.
