This is a big week, folks. For the first time EVER in Texas, license plates will be legally auctioned off Thursday at Cowboys Stadium.

(How we ever advanced as a society before now is beyond me).

So why are they auctioning off license plates? Well, according to this snazzy PR/spam-like e-mail I just received in my inbox, Texas has used up all the 6-character vanity plates so new 7-character plates will be up for grabs to the highest bidder. And the winners get to keep their plates for a whopping 25 year-term (after that, apparently you have to surrender it to the license plate police).

So, just what can you bid on? Well, among the specialized plates are:

COWBOYS

RANGERS

MY TEXAS

MICHAEL

2FAST 4U

HUNTING

(And my two favorite)

GIDDY UP

???????

Sadly, had I known they were going to be doing this, I would have gave My Plates, the company in charge of the auction, a few suggestions. Ahem...

I (heart-symbol) BACON

CHUPIE 1

SWEATIN

AWWCRAP

BOOOYAH

MLTDOWN

YOURMOM

BACK OFF

OUR BUGS COULD EAT YOUR YANKEE HONOR STUDENT (which, yes, I realize is over 7-characters...but wouldn't that be hilarious on a cross-country trip up north? Just sayin').

Ah well, too late now.

Anyhoo, iff'n you're interested in snagging one of these babies, you can register to bid at www.myplates.com/auction until noon on Wednesday.
