Maybe it's the excitement I feel or the fear of being late, but for some reason I always arrive to games way too early. Today, on opening night, it's no different.

We're about three hours from Memorial starting it's season against San Antonio Taft, and here I sit, one mile from the stadium at a Starbucks staring at the clock ready to get to the game.

I'm excited to see O.J. Hughes run behind the blocking of Chase Snapp, Tallen Perry and Dillon Smith. I want to see how Jared Dolezal takes control at quarterback for his first varsity start and how he connects with his receivers. I want to see if Preston Turner can bull through the Raider offensive line and see how Dezmond Sweet, Josh McNickels and Jaimie Thomas react in the Memorial secondary if Taft goes to the air.

More than anything, I just want to see some football. There's really nothing like covering a football game for me. You get the excitement from being in a stadium full of people and the drama that unfolds on the field.

I feel fortunate to be here and hope everyone can get to a lot of games this year. If you're not able to make it to San Antonio tonight, I'll be doing live updates throughout the game. Follow them here and be sure to read my story in tomorrow's paper.
