Over three months ago, the General in charge of Operations in Afganistan to end the conflict as he has turned around the Iraqi War is still placed on hold by our president and his drag his feet on decision making.
as quoted here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33808852/ns/world_news-south_and_central_asia/
"It soon will be three months since Afghan commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal reported to Obama that the U.S. mission was headed for failure without the addition of about 40,000 troops.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because final plans have not been disclosed, dubbed the likely troop increase as "McChrystal Light" because it would fall short of his request. They also said addition small infusions of troops could be dispatched next spring and summer."
Right or Wrong on your feelings of the war in Afganistan you have to stop and wonder why the President is not committed to completing this operation.
On this Veterans day, our troops continue to die at alarming rates since the first battle. The monthly totals begin to increase because our troops are undermanned and staffed to perform their mission with adequate troop levels...but, why does it take so long for the decision to come down after you send your best commander into battle expecting actions and resolution.
Is it because, our president has no experience in military conflicts? Military strategies? Or is it because of inparty bickering within his political party?
Well, you guess correct if you said both answers are Yes, to all of the above.
Obama and his advisors lack the experience and knowledge to lead a nation at War. but, why drag your feet for three months...act now, one way or the other...either, you disagree with troop level increases and need to begin troop debriefings and cool-downs periods to bring the boys home or you need to listen to the General in the field that you deployed there.
So, on veterans day lets remember our Vets and future Vets and pray for them and their success that our leaders make the right choices to give them the ability to succeed and return home...

I did not expect an honest answer and you have not surprised me.
November 12, 2009 at 3:49 p.m.Alarming Rates? One of the things that make us different from our enemies is the high value we hold for each life sacrificed. That’s what Veterans Day is about. Our enemies don’t mind wrapping bombs around the bodies of their young and sending them on hopeless missions of death. Our goal is to bring our soldiers back home alive and well. Appreciating our troops and the families who have and continue to sacrifice means more than a mouthing “thank you for your service”. Compassion understands that while many celebrate the holidays with festivities, meals and football games there will be others that have empty chairs at their dinner tables. Maybe they will place a photo on the table but they won’t hear the voice or see the smile. If you are waiting for an answer to your question, those are the families you should ask.
November 11, 2009 at 6:26 p.m.Still waiting for your response to BHJ's comment on your "dying at alarming rates" hype.
November 11, 2009 at 4:27 p.m.I agree exresident...it is working in Iraq...just need to get it going in Afganland so it can work as well
November 11, 2009 at 10:01 a.m.rogertheshrudder:
That is where you fail to understand...McChrystie the current Gen on the ground was moved there (Afgan land) after his troop increase worked in Iraq...
He was moved there to put an end to this and give advice on how to bring this war to an end...
He suggested troop increase in Iraq and received it from the ""Bush Admin"" however, the BHObama admin which place him there will not listen to his request...it has now been 3 months and still no decision either way...
Our troops are sometimes outnumber during combat and have to abandon their position...with the extra troops added we can hold position and cover Afganland to bring the conflict to an end...
If a president places a commander on the ground he needs to listen to him, not the homies which never went to combat just for popular votes, this is a stupid ploy that only cost more lives...
If you are not going to support the troops/commander then replace or remove...then we can fight on our own soil...
November 11, 2009 at 5:14 a.m.My point is that we've been doing what the "generals on the ground" have been suggesting for 8 years. There's your "military experience". They have all the military experience in the world....yet there is no end in site.
We can't keep sending men and women over there year after year after year.
November 10, 2009 at 10:48 p.m.Anytime our soldiers are on the ground fighting it is important for the president to make important decisions that are not always popular . It is plain to see that with NO military background this president has no clue and neither do his advisors...
It is okay to think through the process before moving blindly however; unless this is a special ed moment...3 months is a long long time to decide...
You have to support your general on the ground, I rest my case...heck!!! they thought less about healthcare and signed a monster plan than they are doing in support for the General
November 10, 2009 at 8:51 p.m.We've been throwing fire on fire for the past 8 years...and are we any closer to ending anything?
Don't you think we owe it to our service people (the men and women there...and the men and women in waiting) to have someone say just once, "We can't keep doing the same thing over and over and over...we need to look at this proposal and see what's the best thing to do"?
This isn't a video game.
November 10, 2009 at 6:19 p.m.Divide and conquer-the world knows this game. While I understand strategic reinforcemnts around the world, I think we sacrifice too much when we deal with tribal mentality. My dad survived IWO JIMA, but his nightmares never went away. I really want us out of these tribal countries. Build our military and protect our nation's borders. If attacked, take them out.
November 10, 2009 at 5:23 p.m.What is our mission in Afghanistan?
November 10, 2009 at 1:59 p.m.And as they have proven so many times already, they don't care about America. They are playing a game with American soldiers lives.
