It’s a Saturday morning and I am at home alone except for the Baby. My spouse and best friend(I know she is because she told me so) is at work doing whatever work people do. I have watched the news and read the paper . I also worked on my best friends homework.(she told me to). I often help her with it cause we are a TEAM.(as she always reminds me.) And I need the money when she graduates and goes to work as a full time RN. Being a person who doesn’t have a job (or want one, so don’t offer) I find I have time to reflect on things that other people don’t think about. Like how old are people that are borne on Feb 29th . Do they only have a birthday every 4 years? And I wonder how long it took that spider to weave that web that’s hanging above my desk.

I also wonder how some people can be so disgruntled and petty. While reading the paper this morning I noticed several letters from people who didn’t like the article by Aprill Brandon yesterday . One especially was demeaning from someone who taught the grandkids not to say hate or die. Two very common words theses days. Used to explain everything from war to students at a college getting shot yesterday. So I wonder if we don’t understand the words or their meaning how are we to explain what happed to the GI who died(KILLED more like it)doing his job or the students who die because some nut job hates them for some unknown reason.

As for Aprill taking her pen in hand and doing what she does best ,making “some” people feel good and giving them a good laugh. What is the problem? Finally the words hate and die used in a way that did not leave me feeling like crying and that the whole world has gone nuts.

Satire! folks ,tongue in cheek humor. A column written by a talented and gifted reporter who still sees the world as a place where people like to laugh . Some of you need to lighten up

  • Good points. I, too, have often wondered how parents nowdays explain to their kids the reason why our kids are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. If kids do see this on TV, do they ask their parents?  I'm glad I don't have to do that kind of stuff anymore.
    I love April!!!
