I'm so excited! Tomorrow I run for the first time really in 2-3 weeks. It begins my half marathon training, but I'm still plagued with how much to run and if my lungs will seize up.
After a stress fracture in May, my running world stopped for a month. The doctor said I could bike or swim, practice yoga and lift weights. However, I don't have a passion for biking or swimming like I do running. Same with my bronchitis, I didn't want to do anything but run.
My passion stems from the ability to hit the pavement with the only 'equipment' being shoes. With cycling, you need a bike, a helmet and that spandex suit. With swimming, you need a pool and a swimsuit. With running, you need shorts, shirt and shoes; the easiest things to come by.
Plus, I find solace in having one foot in front of the other. “Running is one the best solutions to a clear mind,” said Sasha Azevedo and that's why I run to clear my mind and to push my body.
And tomorrow I'll push a little. Not a lot. I'm still healing, but I'll start breaking down that wall.
