I love Sarah Palin gossip. And here's the latest and it's running related.

I bring this up because of the controversy over the recent Newsweek cover involving Sarah Palin, her running outfit, blackberry and American flag. Haven't seen it yet? Look below....

Newsweek cover

What's the controversy, well, the photo comes from a Runner's World photo shoot for the August 2009 issue (sadly, I threw it away in the move). Palin was featured on the "I'm A Runner" page, which features a prominent figure or celeb in each issue. Runner's World has come out with this Editor's Note: "On the cover of this week’s issue of Newsweek is a photo that was shot for the August 2009 issue of Runner’s World, in which Sarah Palin was featured on the monthly “I’m a Runner” back page. Runner’s World did not provide Newsweek with the image. Instead, it was provided to Newsweek by the photographer’s stock agency, without Runner’s World’s knowledge or permission."

Obviously, not Runner's World's fault and Palin isn't blaming them. No, she just blasted Newsweek on Facebook.

"The choice of photo for the cover of this week's Newsweek is unfortunate. When it comes to Sarah Palin, this "news" magazine has relished focusing on the irrelevant rather than the relevant. The Runner's World magazine one-page profile for which this photo was taken was all about health and fitness -- a subject to which I am devoted and which is critically important to this nation. The out-of-context Newsweek approach is sexist and oh-so-expected by now. If anyone can learn anything from it: it shows why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, gender, or color of skin. The media will do anything to draw attention -- even if out of context."

Against, my better judgment I do have to agree with Palin on the photo being out of context, what does Palin's posing in a running outfit have to deal with 'How do you solve a problem like Sarah?' Though, I don't understand how it's sexist either. But I still got a good laugh from the photo.

Plus, I think Palin hit running right on the head with this quote: "I feel so crappy if I go more than a few days without running. I have to run. No matter how rotten I feel before or during a run, it's always worth it to me afterwards. Sweat is my sanity."

  • Jerry Since you posted the cover please post the picture as it ran in runners world put them up side by side so we can really see what newsweek was trying to do here. Or is this the real photo as it was taken. I would really like to know this. I would be willing to bet they did a cut and paste on it to make it fit their agenda.

  • While I will admit it is an unusual choice for a cover, I do not see how it is "sexist". She is the one who posed for the photo. If it's sexist, then why did she agree to it?

  • Just wondering, have any male politicians ended up on Newsweek's cover...in their shorts?

  • Typical media political mumbo jumbo, they just wish to down anyone that is Christian or in her case, a possible GOP frontrunner, eventhough she says she is not planning a 2012 run...

Nothing wrong with the picture only the fact that they made it a political blow to the right/GOP...

If the media as well as the current administration would concentrate their efforts in doing something good and constructive they would win people over, instead they politicize everything and try to propogate their socialized government.

  • Isn't it amazing that the AP has 11 reporters working full time fact checking every word of this book. Not 1 was assigned to fact check obamas books, or biden's, pelosi's, or any other democrats book.
Nope, not one bit of bias in the media is there!
    Pathetic, just pathetic!

  • Go Sarah, go Sarah, Go Sarah. Make as much money as possible for your family. Don't ever back down. How many of us have families just like yours? We do the best we can with what we have. If this gets you into the political arena again, good for you. The media totally pisses me off with stuff like this.
