I have to admit I'm a klutz. Enough of one to trip once a day in college, walking on the sidewalk. To grab things while still hot. To smash my middle finger in a car door, etc.
And I must admit. I am a more graceful runner than I am a walker. Odd I know. But as a walker, I daydream and as a runner I focus on the miles ahead.
And yesterday, while I was daydreaming, I tripped on the sidewalk and hurt my toe. Not fun. Blood, throbbing, cussing, I walked down the street, calling my mother to vent about my recent incident, while blooding my sandals. Also, praying that I didn't ruin the pair (actually it was my first thought after the pain hit).
It of course has heeled some, but not a lot. And I guess now the question is can I run six miles tomorrow? Some have said no. Others say deal with the pain. And at the moment, I'm taking my mom's advice- see how it is tomorrow, if it's healed run, if not wait another day.
But for now, I'm just making sure not to be a klutz today.
