It's less than a week away from my birthday half-marathon and my legs are itching to get on the course.
This being my fourth half, I just want to get out and run it. The week leading up to it is always the worse because there's this build up to it. You start to wonder if you're prepared, do body scans to make sure there are no injures and pick what shoes to wear.
I'm still torn on the shoes. My good old Ravennas, who brought me luck in my 5k, but are not a long distance shoe (albeit, I ran a half in them in Sept.), or my new Adrenalines, who are my new long distance pair that I've received blisters from. Right now I'm choosing the Ravennas, cause they are my favorites, but that could change.
And I know I am prepared for the half. I feel good about. Some tempo and easy runs should be good for me this week. Stretch out the legs, but not too much before the race.
I'm also praying for good weather. A 40-50 degree weather start would be nice. I can wear shorts and maybe even a tank in that weather. Just hope there's no rain or wind, but I'll see the day of the race.
It's my first race in Austin. I'm itching to run it and dreading the hills that I know will be on the course. I haven't looked at the course and I don't know if I will until I pick-up my packet this weekend. I kind of want it to be a surprise.
Now if it only could be Sunday.

Good luck! I am trying to start running again, About 4-5 years ago, I was doing 3 miles a day. Since then, I have completely stopped, and ballooned to over 250lbs.(my weight should be between 190lbs and 200lbs) I am from Cuero, but I live in Alaska now. Too much darkness, and beer drinking. But I miss the running high and not being overweight. But believe me, It is very hard to get motivated when it is zero degrees out and always pitch dark. Reading Runners World used to motivate me. Do you have some sound advice?
