Ok, it's 2011 and once again many people are promising to get fit and healthy and here's some challenges to help you towards that goal:

1) 2011 Resolution Challenged from Mapmyrun.com: Here they have 4 ways for one to challenge themselves and win prizes. You can either bike 100 miles in 30 days, run 30 miles in 30 days, walk 26.2 miles (a marathon) in 30 days or enter 15 workouts in 30 days. Registration is free and prizes include an iPad, visa gift card and more. I've signed up to run 30 miles in 30 days, which means a mile a day or about 10 miles a week.

2) RunKeeper Pro app is a free through the month of January, normally its $9.99. This app tracks your runs on your iPhone or Android, including pace, time and distance. I've already downloaded it for my iPhone. I liked the free app with ads and look forward to the paid app.

3) Couch to 5k. This is something that started online and now is an app. It has 30 minute workouts for people who download it. It is suppose to take people off the couch and to a 5k in 9 weeks. I have never used it, but it has a high star rating on Apple's website. And if you are looking for a bigger challenge there is the Couch to 10k app as well.

4) Runner's World magazine has its own challenge for people to run half and full marathons on their website. Bart Yasso is the personal trainer of the group and a rather famous runner. Also, Runner's Word has a personal trainer and training plans at a price. I like them because their basic training plans are what I use during training season and I've always had good results.

Hope this helps you with your fitness resolutions and I look forward to hearing your stories in the New Year!
