Image    Just a reminder to my fellow sky watchers that the Perseid meteor shower should peak on the morning of Aug. 12.
But you don’t have to wait until then to get a peak. I was sitting on the patio about 10 p.m. Saturday and noticed one streak rapidly from west to east.
The great thing about meteor showers is you don’t need binoculars or a telescope. In fact, you’re likely to miss the meteors if you limit your field of vision.
Skyandtelescope.com offers help for improving your chance of seeing the meteors. There’s even a map of the nighttime sky to help you locate the right area.
