Gustav is still in the Caribbean Sea, but it has everyone wondering where it will make landfall.
About the only thing that seems a good bet now is that it will end up in the Gulf of Mexico. The latest forecast from the U.S. Hydrometeorological Prediction Center calls for landfall at the mouth of the Mississippi River on Tuesday.
But the five-day forecast from the National Hurricane Center has an average error of 300 miles that far into the future.
My best guess yesterday was the mouth of the Mississippi and a co-worker guessed Louisiana. Any one else care to offer a fearless forecast?

  • Houston is definitely within the forecast cone of error, but just barely.

  • i am thinking, inspite of what we are all hoping, that it will make it's way towards Houston. Then on the flip side i think it could quite possibly hit Louisiana instead. One thing is for sure....... This one will be a big catastrophic MOFO from the looks of it!

  • Well, since you asked....I think I'll split the difference and say that it will make landfall smack dab on the border between Louisiana and Mississippi. The farther from Texas, the better.
