The chances of having a white Christmas are slim. No surprises there.
But it’s certainly possible as anyone living here in 2004 will tell you. That’s when Victoria received 12.5 inches of snow Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.
The previous record snowfall for Victoria was 12 inches on Feb. 14, 1895.
Here are some stats from the National Weather Service that put weather extremes for Christmas and New Year’s Day into perspective:
- Record low for Christmas Day: 14° in 1983.
- Record high for Christmas Day: 88° in 1964.
- Record low for New Year’s Day: 20° in 1928.
- Record high for New Year’s Day: 83° in 2006.
- New Year’s Day Snow: No measurable snow has been recorded in South Texas on New Year’s.
