That unusually bright light in the southern sky just after sunset is no UFO.
It’s the planet Jupiter, which will be making it’s closest approach to the Earth this year on Wednesday, July 9. The planet is so bright, a telescope and sky map won’t be needed to identify it.
But even a small telescope will help bring out some detail, including four of the largest moons and the cloud belts. Spaceweather.com has more details.

Well put. It's not possible for me to gaze at the night sky and not see God's hand at work.
