If you’re up late tonight and there are no clouds, the night sky will offer a special treat.
Comet Lulin, which is now visible to the unaided eye, and the planet Saturn will converge about 1 a.m. That is also when the comet makes its closet approach to the earth.
And the icing on the cake is that there will be a new moon, providing a dark sky for viewing the spectacle.
The comet and Saturn will be in the southern sky in the constellation Leo.
In the event of clouds, the Coca-Cola Space Science Center in Georgia will webcast the event. It will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Click here for a sky map from Spaceweather.com and let me know if you see anything tonight. I’ll be sleeping.
