If you’re not thinking about the start of hurricane season on June 1, it’s probably not too early.
AccuWeather.com has released its 2009 forecast and it has mixed news for Texas.
Hurricane forecaster Joe Bastardi is calling for the same number of hurricanes in 2009 as last year, but fewer major hurricanes. A major hurricane has winds greater than 110 mph.
“But keep in mind, it only takes one major hurricane hitting a highly populated area to have a devastating impact,” he said.
Bastardi is predicting eight hurricanes for 2009, which is the same number of hurricanes that formed last year. He’s predicting two major hurricanes, down from five in 2008.
One major hurricane is forecast to make landfall in 2009. None hit the United States last year.

Guess if they keep making the forecast long enough, they will finally get one right.
