Hurricane season begins June 1 and if you’re looking for an easy way to keep track of what’s brewing in the tropics, try Twitter.

One aid I ran across today is Severe Weather Alert System for Twitter users.

It’s a free service that provides weather alerts and information on tsunami and volcanic activities. You can also follow information specific to Texas by clicking on the state name in the lower, right part of the homepage.

Of course, you need a Twitter account to follow the tweets.

The Web site for signing up for weather alerts is www.gswas.blogspot.com.

Let me know how you like it.

  • Dave,

I tried to send a direct message back to you on Twitter, but for some reason it won't "send">

Sorry Dave, can't help you. I quit 2 years ago. It got too hot for this old man out on that concrete pad loading 40# bags of dirt in Aug.

  • Oh thanks for the alert. I love twitter, and this would sure come in handy in the rural areas, when we can't hear the town alarms going off. I will head that way now and sign up.
