So as planned we came to town this weekend for TurkeyFest. After spending the whole entire day at the fairground in the heat & chasing a 3 yr old, we were pretty exhausted. We got into Victoria about 10pm, stopped at Whataburger & headed to the Hampton Inn to eat & get some much needed rest before another day at the fairgrounds. The 3yr old is sound asleep & hubby is holding food, so I go in to check us in. The lobby is empty except for an older couple. I stand around for 5 minutes or so & nobody shows up. They don't have a bell so I start looking around & the older couple tells me to be patient, it took them a while before she showed up to check them in also. The man did suggest I knock on the office door. I knock, wait a few minutes & then knock again, no response. Finally I start loudly saying "hello" again, no response. I finally went out to the car & got my phone. I went back inside & called the hotel. A girl answered, I told her I had been waiting at least 10 minutes at the front desk to check in & she hangs up on me. She comes out of the conference room & says "did you NOT hear me vaccuuming"? I stated I had not & she snorted. She gave me my room keys, I signed the reciept & she THREW it at me. I told her I was going to have to mention this experience to Brigette Bise & I would think twice before bringing my boots back to this hotel & she told me that she was almost off shift, had a sick baby & had to vaccuum that room before she could leave, so she did not care who she put out by making them wait. I told her I was the customer & we should come first, that I was tired & hungry & my food was getting cold in the car. She told me that she didn't care if I complained about her but she had the right to refuse service to me & she would deny me a room. I told her my room was prepaid so she could not so she told me she was going to call the police on me because I was rude to her!!!!! I was floored...I just wanted to get the little one into bed, change clothes & eat, I did NOT want to have to deal with rude front desk clerks threatening me for asking they do their JOB! I told her fine, call them. She then proceeded to bad mouth me to the next group of people that walked in. I went to my room, ate my cold food & then got online & lodged a complaint with Hilton & now I am typing this. I will NEVER return to this hotel & I not recommend it to anyone else. If this is a sampling of customer service in Victoria, i will take my boots on down the road.
