The holidays are always a very hectic time of the year with everyone running around trying to get gifts for the people on their list. I always look forward to the holidays, but not because of the gifts. I look forward to the holidays because I get to spend it with my family. My family has its own unique holiday traditions just like most families do. These traditions are what help to make this time of year so special.

My favorite tradition my family partakes in every years is going caroling to different family members and close friends. It started with my aunt and uncle and my parents. Now it includes them plus all their kids and anyone who wants to go caroling with us. As far back as I can recall, I remember going caroling every Christmas. We even went caroling after Christmas one year and “wished” everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Our caroling route is one of a kind in the sense that we start out caroling to people in the city, then make our way to the people who live in the country. Most of the people we carol to look forward to us every year and some even have snacks and drinks put aside for us whenever we do come carol to them.

This is a very special tradition and a great way to spread the Christmas spirit to people. I love that this tradition has made it through the years with all the changes that have taken place in today’s society. I hope it continues for years to come.
