This is Evi. (pronounced eevee)

We all knew it was a matter of time before the illegitimate extended family of Siri presented itself. For those without the iPhone 4 or trapped in the chains of a two-year contract with a random provider, this is the most exciting thing since sliced bread.

Now we can join the legions of Siri users walking the streets, having conversations with their smart phone like they're in an episode of the Twilight Zone.

Despite feeling a bit pretentious talking to my iPhone, I went ahead and downloaded the app. Like I could help it.

She doesn't know how to text or set reminders yet. However, she is very apologetic about it and always offers to do something she is capable of in exchange.

After every question, you can give her the thumbs up or the thumbs down depending on her answer. This feedback helps her learn and provide more useful answers in the future. After all, she is only a month and 14 days old.

Here is an interaction I had with her today:

Me: Can you tell me a joke?

Evi: Press any key to continue or any other key to quit...

Evi's got jokes!

Evi has been around since January and to be quite honest, I'm surprised I still found her in the App store this month. Techcrunch reported last month that Apple was getting ready to pull her from the store likely for being too Siri-like.

Currently, she is available for both iPhone and Android users. What do you think, are you going to give Evi a shot?
