” WORKING FROM HOME”…How many times have you read this, seen these ads in your local newspaper or on the Internet…even posted to utilities poles in your city.

After working for years as a small “business owner” time had caught up with me as now I was getting a little “lazier” one might say, I decided to give this Working from Home a try.

I had received a very professional business like letter informing me they were responding to my inquiry (guess I had hit the “magic button) on their website…but to be honest...it must had been months prior.Since I consider myself a careful person (having had many experiences of real life) I spend what seemed like months checking out these “so called” companies. No stone was left unturned in checking of this great opportunity.

Now maybe was the time to get a little braver and give it a try so I sent back the envelope they had so kindly enclosed. Actually I had forgotten about it when “out of the blue” came a small tiny box addressed to me. For the life of me I thought, “I haven’t ordered anything from those programs on television that run 24 hrs. night and day…so what could this be. Even after checking the sender’s return information, I was unable to figure it out...

Getting curious by the minute, I finally got my “cutting torch” out and opened this small box. Removing what seemed like tons of packing plastic wrap. there was this rather strange looking equipment. The company was kind enough to include “step by step” instructions. There were two pieces with this “Working from Home” equipment. There was a small plastic box as well as some type of tiny hand held scanner.

The instructions made it sound easy to attach to my phone line. Well. Now had it said attach to my computer…back it would have gone…even if I had to send by “carrier pigeon?” Attaching it to a phone line was rather easy …The instructions said that to make Money at Home all that was necessary was to use the hand held scanner and scan each bar code from the items I purchase from the Super markets . The “Working From Home” company said that it would be up to me as to how much I would be making and since I dream big...I though ” I’ll make enough to take a cruise around the world. What a way to travel abroad a Luxury Liner and really enjoy the fact that it was all paid for my “Working From Home” venture.

Now that I had connected this equipment to the phone line, I was ready to get this “Money” coming in with each item scanned. I called the company and to inquire if I could scan the purchased items I had in the cabinets… (just been shopping) and they were happy to hear that I was “a willing” Working from Home” shopper. I did inquire as to “how much money would I get for each item that I scanned” … and was told it wouldn’t be a get rich scheme but “the money” will add up. (All depends on how much I buy) I even thought about running to all my neighbors and hauling their groceries to my home to scan. That didn’t quite make sense...just to make a few pennies so I gave up that idea quickly. The person at Shopping at Home did inform me that big companies want to know which of their products are actually being sold. Seems as if this would be all done by computers.

To the kitchen I went dragging bags of recently purchased grocery items and setting them next to me…picking up the scanner….and pulling the scanner over each bar code…but .nothing happened. If I couldn’t see the bar code numbers showing up…I wasn’t get credit for it. I proceeded to call the Shopping From Home Company and the person was very pleasant…but after some time, we both came to the conclusion that the one of the two devices wasn’t working. They would send me out a new set which did arrive in another week.

While waiting for this new “Money making machine” to arrive….I had been saving all the items that had bar codes on them…and well…I guess the “garbage men” were happy…my trash cans were practically empty…. Once again, I wasted no time in connecting this Working from Home “equipment. What a “shocker”….did not work. Called the company again and no one was able to advise me what was wrong...they just didn’t know how to correct it.This was the end of my “free vacation” trip around the world on a famous “Ocean Liner”
