Are there any participants out there gearing up for the 2nd annual Catholic Knowledge Bowl?  It was a fun, yet challenging time last year. My teammates and I all prepared in different ways.  We studied the questions provided by the diocese, and we thought.....naw... this can't be all there is... these are too easy!

Well, we got our answer, especially in the third round when the questions were mucho tough- such as how many documents were there in Vatican II, and who was the first bishop of Texas.  It is multiple choice, except for tie-breakers.

But.... it was so much fun, we're going back this year, and bringing along an extra team with the kiddos on it.

It's a great way to learn more about your Catholic faith, meet some nice people, and have a bit of camaraderie.

If any of you will be participating and want to gab about it, make a comment if you like.

  • Hello Old Rusty Bucket (ORB),
I was referring to Riverboat (RB), whom I met at the Catholic Knowledge Bowl. No impostors, just a good Catholic who likes learning more about Truth.
    Have a great one, ORB.

  • MARYANN:  "Hello RB, it was so great to meet you there."  I'd've told you likewise had I been there.   Who's the imposter? Surely, it wasn't BIG J, FREETHINKER, RAGMAN, or FFR. :)

  • Hello ORB,
You flunked out of altar boy class for not ringing the bell at the right time???? Oh man, they must have had a lot of candidates, you'd pass with flying colors today.
Sorry your experience was so banal.  We all had a great time today, with lots of camaraderie and Catholic thought.
    Have a great weekend, ORB.

  • Hello RB, it was so great to meet you there.
It's great to put a face with the avatar. My team and I had such a blast- as you know, people from Lavaca County don't get out much, and when we do, it's like letting the cows out on the cabbage patch.
Last year there were 30+ teams. Today was the March for Life in Austin, and also some parish picnics or noodle soups or something.  Next year, Sr. Digna said it would be in late February.
May God bless you, and it was great to meet you.
May the Force (God All Mighty!) be with you!

  • NO THANKS: My suffering with being force fed as a kid was enough for a lifetime. My Godmother thought it necessary for me to take Confraternity of  Christian Doctrine correspondence courses. Until those weekly lessons were mailed off there was nothing else one could do. Damn how I hated that whole deal. Because we went to a public school our Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons were spent in a male only class listening to a fruit loop priest.  I always said that I'd never let him follow me to the boys room. The kids who normally inhabited those old two part desks always had ""treasure hunts"  for pencils, ink bottles, glue bottles, rulers, etc. on Monday mornings. With present facts, maybe flunkin' out of altar boy class for not ringin' the bell at the right time, might've been a real Godsend. Reckon?
