Veterans Day is upon us again and although I am a veteran of the first gulf war, I must admit that today's soldiers are the greatest generation ever. None of these soldiers were drafted and even after 8 years of conflict, they are still defending our nation. Many people would argue that title is reserved for the WWII vets, I would beg to differ. The WWII vets never had to deal with hostile press and Congress. Today's service member have to deal with all negative attitudes that come from various sources. All I have to do is turn the tv on and see clowns like Gore telling people that if they do not learn to read and write, they will end up in the Armed Forces. Or have their funeral protested by some crazy church. All of us have done our job but today's soldiers are a special breed. They do not have to do it, they just do it. Regardless, to the WWII generation, thanks for stopping fascism. To the forgotten generation, I can only imagine what would it feel to fight in Korea. To the Vietnam vets, your thanks came late but thank you for fighting a war that was never popular, not that any war is. Gulf vets, rock on. Iraq/Afghanistan, your fight is not over but do know that we are behind you.

  • Any of you folks that know someone in the service overseas... Do those guys/gals ever send home any letters saying, We don't have (fill in the blank)???

Are there any simple items that would be nice to have that these folks can't get their hands on. And is there a way to send a package that you can be assured it will arrive to them???

  • There is no greater demonstration of love for one's country than the willingness to put oneself in harm's way in the defense of it.

  • I take nothing away from today's warriors but the greatest generation states to not only the WWII that was fought both over there but on the home front. But also to what they had to put up with leading up to it, depression and much other things. A great story.

Yes this SCREAMS on two points.

How great are All who serve(d), have done so in their times. My dad in WWII, my brother who joined during Vietnam and my son who just got back from the sandbox. Also my wife's cousin who got out last year after 20 and now is in Afghanistan training their Army.

But also how much our society and media has changed and lowered itself to the positions they openly present in public for our warriors to see while they put their souls and lives on the line for THEM!

Big Thank You to the warriors, past and present.

  • We may not remember when or why any particular war started, but we should always remember the sacrifices of our warriors. Those who came home and those who did not are the ones who secure the blessings of liberty to us and our future generations.
Thank You Rayrey! I thank you and every other soldier for giving so much. May it rain roses on every veteran this holiday.
