After reading reporter Gheni Platenburg's story about superstition, ranging reporter JR Ortega and I got curious about, well, superstition. Do people believe in it? Don't they? So this morning I was at IHOP asking people if they're superstitious or not. While I won't let a black cat cross my path, and am always careful to throw salt over my left shoulder if it gets spilled, not everyone is as superstitious as me:

“No, I’m really not superstitious. I won’t walk under ladders because that’s just dumb, but so many superstitions are just so silly.” – Molly Fowler, culinary instructor at the Cooking School, Houston.

“No, not really. I think it’s all in people’s minds. I think about it now and then, but most of it doesn’t make any sense so I don’t believe it too much.” – Trey Stone, welder, Lolita.

“”You know, I don’t know that I’m really superstitious. Halloween doesn’t bother me that much. I think it’s a pagan holiday and I don’t celebrate it, so things like that don’t concern me at all.” – Eddie Huber, vice president of oil field chemical engineering company, Victoria.

“No, I think I’m smarter than that, I guess.” – Riley Dillinger, agricultural sales, Dexter, Mo.
