While parts of the country are shaking and quaking in the wake of earthquakes, the environment beat has got plenty going on.

Up north, the Philadelphia Inquirer is looking into concerns that fracking in the Marcellus Shale may be draining creeks in the area. You can read more about it here.

Down Florida-way, there are concerns about leaded gas used in small planes and helicopter. The lead in the fluid may be a danger to people living near the airport, especially children who are more sensitive to lead. Read all about it here.

Out in Montana, Exxon-Mobil has announced that an oil spill in Billings will cost about $42 million to clean up. About 1,000 barrels of oil, around 42,000 gallons, leaked into a stream upriver from the town, and, as we all remember from oil spills of the past, it's a pain to get it all cleaned up. But on a completely unrelated note, Jeff Bridges can actually sing. We're all familiar with those famous people who decide they're so famous they must also be good singers. You know, the likes of Scarlett Johansson and Eddie Murphy. It turns out Bridges ain't that sort. I've listened to his new album, and, yes, the Dude can sing, so give him a listen.
