Reporter Kayla Bell is working on an advance on Barefoot Sunday, a one day shoe collection scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Renegade Church, 3002 Navarro Street. This got us ranging reporters thinking about charity, so we decided to ask the people of the Crossroads about it: Do you think it's important to give to charity?

"Yes, I think it's our duty if we've been blessed with certain things then it's our duty to give back." - David James, sales representative, Victoria.

"Yeah, because there are a lot of people that don't have things they need. If you can give back and share what you've got with people, it's the right thing to do." - Richard Firova, painter, Refugio.

"It's very important because it's a mission outreach and with my Christian background charity is part of what I believe in." - Bill Burke, fireman, Memphis, Tenn.

"I definitely say charity is important because in today's economic situation, a lot of people need help and it's our obligation to help them." - Joe Murabito, Dover, Del.
