Drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is like traveling into space. It seems safe but the truth is that we know very little about how to do it. It is a new frontier for us. The gulf oil spill proves just that. We need a lot more practice than we have, to do it safely. When one person dies that is too many. We need to find new ways to power the planet. One day we will be out of oil and then what do we do?
Thanks for yet another great article Dianna .... This just proves the point that is becoming more and more apparent every single day ..... accountants might very well know a lot about numbers, and have the ears of upper level managers .... but they also tend to NEVER understand how the company actually obtains that money and produce those profits. They also never seem to acknowledge that sometimes, just like with this disaster, THEY are at the actual root of the cause. How do they "account" for their own error in the final cost calculation, because in fact, it WAS their own "mis-calculation" that caused all the EXTRA expenditure ...... AND the loss of life ....
