I can't remember the last time I mailed something. Like Spotter, I do electronic and online. I could be perfectly content to receive all my catalogs and junk mail on one day and skip the other five.
Just don't make it on Tuesday--that's my trash day, and I'd hate to have all my fun on one day.
Nope. All of my bill paying and correspondence is done electronically. I'd be happy with once/twice per week. It may be time to drastically scale down the USPO over the next 10 years and let the well-oiled private shippers pick up the slack.
It would not create problems for me at all. When 70-100% of daily mail is advertisement and bulk rate postage (corporate discounted mail outs of advertisements that junk up my mailbox), I'm not viewing the system as a very efficient machine. I can pay my bills online or on my mobile phone. Paychecks, child support checks, insurance reimbursements and other checks can be direct deposited into my bank account. Packages are best handled by FED EX/ UPS. For all other items that do not fit into those catagories, I must plan my crisis. I cannot imagine anything so emergent that I wake up on a Saturday morning and say to myself "Oh my, the world will surely crumble and fall today if I do not make it to the post office before they close" - unless of course, I failed to plan. Monday through Friday works for me. Heck, I'm all for a Monday through Thursday!
I agree with Alton And bighorn. One can drop off out going mail any time- it you need stamps, make an investment and buy a book or roll- instead of one stamp at a time. They won't go to waste.I use PO Box and pick mail up once a week. Kinda funny, I still get "resident" "occupant" mail delivered to my home.
It wouldn't bother me. They need to do something, cutting a day out might save some money, but they will spend it else where!
The small town I live in is already only open Mon - Fri, closes for lunch, and also closes at 3:45 pm. If you work full time, it is very difficult to find a time to get to the post office during the workweek. Imagine if you lived in a big town with lots of traffic and had to try to make it to the post office on your lunch hour.
I think instead of cutting back operating hours the post office should be open 7:30 to 5:30 Mon - Fri, 10 - 12 Sat, and to save money they should change home and office delivery to a subscription based service where customers who opt to have home delivery could pay a monthly or yearly fee for home delivery service, just like PO Box users pay.
Wouldn't be bothered in the slightest to only get mail five days a week.
It would affect me and others if this measure would stop taxpayers from having to cover the Postal Service deficits.
Let's quit putting band-aids on the Post Office problems. Make a meaningful change and reduction. Cut back to three day a week delivery immediately.
Like someone stated above, we are supposed to get our check on Friday, it usually comes on Saturday, but sometimes not until Monday. It used to drive me crazy until I got one check ahead, so don't need it until the next Friday. So basically, it wouldn't bother me.
It wouldn't affect me at all. I can wait till Monday.
