I really enjoy the BING pics that come up each day. I am still a NASA enthusiast, and enjoy reading about the medical experiments in space and their effects on earthlings. Pictures displayed today from the Hubble, I think, reminded me of books I picked up for my grands. I was reminded to throw one in the suitcase for this weeks trip.

When I taught 3RD grade, I let the kids research the galaxies, choose one they liked and then paint it on black paper. They actually could recall all types of galaxies after the art/science lesson. Yes, it was a private school, and I was given great leniency in my teaching.

The spiral galaxy displayed today is a pattern example from sunflower seeds and conch shells to a drop of milk in coffee. One drop of blue food dye in water creates the same pattern, and the molecules spread evenly throughout the water. The tint is faint, but we know the molecules are there because we put them there. Kids love this experiment.

The title of the book is Absolutely Awesome by Michael and Caroline Carroll. The book is a really great way to let kids discover God in their every day life. I found them at a Dollar Store and couldn't pass them up. Best bud will have lots of science this week while we pray for his mom.
