We visited the older son and family today using retrieval of a wood chipper as an excuse. My son said he would be in the younger son's neck of the woods in the near future, and planned to visit. I planned my weekly help for Wednesday, and my daughter-in-law was smiling ear to ear as she looked at her nails. Our blond beauty knows us now, and doesn't pucker her bottom lip at our intrusions into her life, and that makes us happy. Pops was almost ready to shave his mustache because the girls cried when he held them. I told him to wait out the 4TH as blond beauty would visit her other grandpa for a long weekend, and his mane of hair would cure her of any fears. It did. Every picture of them has her grabbing handfuls of hair and grinning ear to ear. Grandpa was in his glory, so Pops figures his mustache is safe for a while. I don't have an opinion one way or the other. She grabs for my glasses at every opportunity, and so far hasn't given an evil look to warn of her intentions. Brunette beauty already has that get ready to be surprised look, and I know exactly when she is going to grab.
Brunette's mom is the daughter-in-law we have been saying extra prayers for this month, but it occurred to me that Blondie's mom is also a cancer survivor. When Blondie was born, her mom had been cancer free for five years. Her type was melanoma and the surgeon took a huge chunk out of her leg. I immediately gave thanks as God has always blessed this family, and I chided myself for just plain forgetting how He has always been in control.
When we got home the younger son called and said that surgery sounded like it would be around the first week in August. I told him that his older brother was probably going to be in his town that same week. I think that it is cool. Maybe God is going to let us get together at a time when brothers need each other, and mothers and dads just need to see both of the kids at the same time. Hub even commented wouldn't that be something if he could see both boys at the same time. It's been over two years since they've seen each other. Here, I've been having a control freak tantrum because I really can't do a thing about just about every unpleasant circumstance in my life, and then it hits me. God handles all of the details, and He's handling this one as well. Sometimes, I am sure I can hear God chuckle and say, "Oh, ye of little faith." Yep, sometimes I give God a chuckle.
