Although the television is snowy and I've been taking volleyball calls throughout the game, the Houston Rockets aren't looking too bad in their first preseason game of the year.

From what I've seen Luis Scola looks to be the real deal. He ran the court well in the first quarter for a transition layup and later came up with a steal on defense. If he plays this way, he'll be a good addition to the Rockets this year.

I've also been impressed by Steve Francis. He's the type of player that I rarely cheer for, but he did put a smile on my face when he followed a Yao Ming miss for a slam dunk.

This opening preseason game will ultimately mean nothing, but the Rockets have looked strong. They were shooting 58 percent opposed to the New Orleans Hornets 29 percent near halftime. The score as I finish this blog is 72-70 in the Rockets favor so I better finish before they make me look bad before I even post.
