We could all whine about how the game is being ruined by greed and how rules need to be changed in college basketball, or we could all simply grow up and enjoy what is about to start.

The college basketball season is underway with teams starting to practice this week, and preseason honors being announced.

In the Big 12 Texas' D.J. Augustin has been tabbed as the preseason Player of the Year. www.texassports.com Augustin was, for the mostpart, overshadowed last season by Durant, but he showed that he is a great guard for the Longhorns.

While I'm dissapointed that more players don't stick around the college game longer, I'm still an avid fan of the sport. This season would have been great if Texas' Kevin Durant hadn't gone to the NBA, or if Greg Oden had stayed at Ohio State. But we still have plenty to look forward to, and as we all know, a new crop of great players are ready to emerge.
