While most sports fans are caught up in football and the start of the baseball playoffs, basketball season is right around the corner. That means dunks, arrests, clutch 3-pointers and suspicious eyes set on all officials. This blog will deal with all facets of the game, on and off the court.

We'll follow the Spurs as they try to repeat as NBA champs, and track the Longhorns after Kevin Durant left for the money in Seattle. How will the Aggies fare this year without A.C. Law and their coach who bolted for Kentucky, and which high school teams will have the best season is up for discussion.

With all sports the sidebar stories are some of the best. This blog isn't above attempting jokes directed at the aging Spurs or predicting that Steve Francis will reverse the progress that Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady have made in Houston. As NBA teams report to camp on Monday, one of the biggest questions is how will Dallas come back from its opening round playoff loss against Golden State last year. In the Southwest Division, I'm putting my imaginary money on the Mavericks to win the division. They'll be tested by the Spurs, Grizzlies and Rockets, but who knows, the Hornets could sneak in there and make some noise.

That's about as likely as Francis learning how to pass this year for Houston though.
