I just got back into Victoria from my first football experience of the season. First on my plate of high school football was a trip to Hallettsville and a visit with the defending TAPPS Division IV state champion Indians.

Pat Henke is entering his 33rd season at Sacred Heart and said he's excited about the team's depth this season. Sacred Heart lost five players to graduation, but had 47 players out for practice this morning. In all his time at Sacred Heart, Henke said the most he's ever had was 48.

Next up for me is the first day of practice for the Flyers of St. Joseph. The team has been practicing since 7:30 a.m. and isn't supposed to wrap up until 7 p.m.

You've got to love it.
