Junction ends Shiner's season

Matthew Hibbs finished with 2 touchdowns on the game for Shiner, but it wasn't enough as the Comanches saw their season end in Georgetown on Friday.
Dustin Stapp ran for 216 yards and three scores to lead Junction to its 21-14 win.

Shiner finishes the season at 9-2.

Shiner missed the PAT, and trails 14-6.

Stapp rumbles in for a 42-yard TD run and the Junction Eagles are up 14-0 with 2 minutes left in the first half.

Dustin Stapp finishes off a 10-play drive with a 15-yard touchdown for Junction. The Eagles lead the Comanches 7-0 midway through the first.

Junction wins the toss, but defers until the second half. Shiner elects to receive here in Georgetown.

The Comanches (9-1) looking to advance past the third round for the first time since 2004, while Junction (9-3) looks to keep things rolling after downing La Villa last week.

Some people don't like going back home, but tonight I'm very proud to come from where I do.

I just arrived at the Shiner-Junction football game here in my hometown of Georgetown. The stadium they've built is second to none on the high school level. It's the first year for the stadium, and I've been wanting to come to a game here since they started construction a mile from my dad's house two years ago.

They can accommodate over 12,000 fans, they have the big screen, great turf and locker rooms and concession areas that would make some colleges envious.

We're also really fancy here. Instead of a media section in this press box, Georgetown calls it "Community Spotlight."

It's nice to know that the people in my hometown are doing things right.
