I am behind on my blogging, no doubt about it.
I always feel like when all my stories are finally in and my schedule has calmed down enough for me to start thinking about blogging, the police scanner goes off. It is a sure way for something to happen — think about blogging and then bam! — guaranteed Victoria disaster.
Tonight, however, was actually a calm night, even when I started working on this blog. So I wanted to take the opportunity to share some of the funnier scanner memories I have jotted down over the last few months.
Overheard on the scanner:
“A report of a priest trying to do an exorcism at Best Buy”
My reaction: What are police officers supposed to do about that, exactly?
"Someone reports a person with no pants is trying to break into their home”
My reaction: They really needed some pants, so figured they’d steal a pair?
“Report of someone throwing spaghetti in someone else’s yard.”
My reaction: Laughter. Pure, unadulterated laughter.
“Report of two sisters arguing over how to do their mother’s hair, it could get violent.”
My reaction: WHAT? Blow it dry and move on ladies.
“A woman reports her neighbor’s dog has pooped in her yard and she wants to complain.”
My reaction: Are these really the type of calls we want to pay for our officers to go on? Grow up, lady, and go talk to your neighbor. Please stop wasting our officers’ time.
Cheers to 2012 in Victoria, Texas. Let's see what randomness will come with 2013.
