To those that know me, I have an undying affinity for all-things food. My predilection for food started when I was big enough to help in the kitchen by washing dishes. Despite the fact that my parents probably hated the idea of me standing on a chair, nearly tip-toeing to reach into the sink, and taking up valuable space to maneuver between the refrigerator, counter and stove during meals, I was one of the happiest kids ever.

That being said, as I take the reins from Trysta Eakin – who served the magazine well and shaped it into what you see today – as the new reporter for the Magazine of the Golden Crescent, I thought a tribute to the area's top five chefs would be fitting introduction to who I am, as well as who is out there serving you.

I look forward to working on the magazine and getting to know its readership. I encourage readers to contact me with story ideas or suggestions, or just say "hello."

So here is my challenge to you. GC, the Magazine of the Golden Crescent, is accepting nominations for the July/August issue’s Top 5 Chefs. Is there a chef who has introduced your plate, or palate, to the endless possibilities of flavor combinations and world cuisines? Tell us about your restaurant or catering experience with a letter (not more than one page) detailing what makes your nominee an outstanding chef, and email it to gc@vicad.com or mail to:
