Just as the seasons change, so do our lives and for me it it time to move on. Wednesday, June 10, was my last official day at the Advocate as I have decided on a career change after 30 years in the newspaper business. I had a great run at the Victoria Advocate and had the golden opportunity to cover one of the best beats around - GOLF! I have been able to cover all aspects of the game from the high school ranks, the college ranks and even the professional ranks while here in Victoria. I've got a lot of memories to take with me and will cherish them all. I know when they high school season rolls around in the fall I'll get that itch to cover the local and area schools out there on the links and will miss being around all the coaches. The Crossroads area should be proud of the number of kids the game has helped obtain scholarship and improve there lives. The great thing about the game it that it's not about how big or strong you are, but how dedicated your are to the game that makes the biggest difference. Like any sport it takes a lot of hard work and hours of practice to perfect the game, but you have to continue those methods each and everyday. I'm still going to look forward to seeing many of you on the golf course and just want to say, thanks for the memories.
