Am rereading the novel I completed a few years ago as I convert it to the true crime story it's based on.

It's amazing when you let something sit for awhile then read it again how clearly some things jump out that need to be fixed.

It's a long process, but obviously necessary.

  • That's the truth. When I finish a draft I will put it away for anywhere from two weeks to a month without looking at it. That gives my mind time to get away from it and I can begin the revision process from a more objective place.  It's also great when you go over something that has been "aging" for a long time and say, "This is really good, there's no way I wrote this."
