I want to talk about when people write. Over the years I have heard a lot of different suggestions -- write first thing in the morning, when you are fresh, write late at night, write when you have five spare minutes.
Nothing can be more intimidating than looking at that blank piece of paper the blank page on the computer screen. Getting started is often harded than finishing.
Don't think there is a right or wrong here. I have written at all hours of the day and night, including jumping out of bed in the middle of the night to scribble something down or bang it out on the computer.
Have always wondered what works for others.
In response to an earlier post, Bevster.....not knowing if you are a writer, not easy to say "start writing" or what when you say you have a story. Feel free to e-mail me at the address of my profile to fill lme in on exactly what you mean. As for posting my first poem...nah...it's horrible.

I write at different times, whenever the feeling moves me. I believe I'm most productive in the mornings, as long as I am getting the right amount of coffee. I am usually most inspired to write after I've consumed high doses of caffeine and am tied up doing something that I have to get done other than writing.
October 2, 2007 at 7:33 p.m.Before I started working evenings, I did most of my writing while my wife was watching whatever spinoff of Law & Order was on that night. The last short story that I finished was written at night when I got in from work over the span of a week or so. It was a nice, quiet time to write, but it kept me up later than I would like.
