My earliest memories of "writing" anything was in elementary school. I can recall taking the names of classmates and writing a short story. Silly stuff, like, "It  was a Sonny day, and I thought I'd take a Long walk." I'd use as many classmates names as possible and tell a little story. Then I'd read it to them at recess. I guess it's possible to start younger, but haven't heard of many crib scribblers! The first poem I remember writing was in junior high, an awful ditty called "Hank the Hippie." I can still recite the darn thing.
