  • Yes Sonny, I find the query process pretty disenchanting.  I mean, first they make it as hard as possible: we prefer snail mail, we prefer e-mail, we prefer a one page synopis--author's bio included, compare your work to another published author (but don't disparage said author or his works), absolutely do not self-publish (apparently a big no-no)--but if you did, make sure to tell us if it sold moderately well,  etc.  Then ultimately, they give your idea the ol' thumbs down without reading the manuscript (or even part of it).  Agents--I hope they become obsolete someday soon.  However, on a positive note, I do admire the output of a local author named Linda Mooney.  She has a few self-published works available at Hastings and has pretty much covered the self-promotion spectrum--Myspace, Facebook, pod-casts, YouTube, et al.  Best of luck to you, Sonny.

  • Wow - a good response nonetheless. It looks like you are heading in the right direction. Keep pounding the keyboard, you'll get there. :-)
