Unfinished projects

I had a fellow writer ask me the other day about unfinished projects. It seems she has several writing projects started, but can't seem to finish them.

As far as advice goes, I am not sure I am the best person to be asking. Yes, I've completed several projects, but also have several "in flux" (a fancy term for not finished).

We discussed her dilemma and I offered a couple of suggestions that I hope will be beneficial. One was to pick out the one project that she felt most strongly about and concentrate on that one. I suggested not spreading herself so thin with multiple projects.

The other idea I had, and some writers will swear against this, was for her to go ahead and write the ending to the one project she's closest to finishing. I've never done this, although I may know how it was going to end, but thought it might get her jump-started.

I think for me and most of us who write the real key is something I've mentioned in this blog before..."bum glue." In other words, sit your butt down and just write.
