I have this box. It's about the size of a box that a case of 8 1/2 x 11 paper would come in. It is very full of stuff.
Inside the box...newspaper clippings, notes, letters -- all related to the Butts triple homicide case that I am writing about. When I first decided to write about this case and was told to fictionalize it because there was no ending (no arrest, no trial, no conviction), I ignored the box. But I kept putting "things" inside.
Now that I am re-writing, and telling the true story, the box comes back into play. I think I have a pretty good handle on the outline of the story and the facts to fill in that outline, but I can't remember everything that's in the box. I know that the suspect's mother, who is now in jail charged with murder herself, wrote me several letters. I think they are in the box.
This weekend I open the box. What else awaits?
Keep writing.

Patience - you must have a lot of it if you created a time-capsule for this case. Cheers to your writing expedition.
